Synopsis
JohnLeydig 3.0 was successful in updating and refining the aesthetics of my portfolio. It added bold graphics, a more organized structure for finding creative samples and social networking plugins to increase awareness of my work. But that wasn’t the purpose of 3.0. I built it to put more of a focus on my work samples, simplify the interface and not distract the user with an over-the-top design. The entire version was built and ready for launch, but after stepping back from it, I realized it failed to meet its purpose – the design was too overpowering and competed with my portfolio samples. So, after a deep breath, I decided to scrap the idea and not use it as the third version of my portfolio.

3.0 wasn’t a total loss however. I still liked the design so I opted to use it as a portfolio piece instead. Even some of the concepts and ideas developed for that version can be found in version 4.0.
